Comfortable stay at reasonably priced hotel in a great location. Inevitably in a hotel of this era the room wasn't that soundproofed so we could hear the conversation in the room next-door, but it wasn't a problem. We dined in the hotel and the food was excellent and sensibly priced. Would definitely use again.

We were very happy with our huge room! There was a sitting area with couch and comfortable, along with a wonderfully comfy bed. The bathroom was spotless and appeared freshly renovated, and had a beautiful standing tub, with separate shower. We really enjoyed our breakfast. Everything was fresh and beautifully cooked, and service was above and beyond perfect. In fact, all staff we encountered were welcoming and kind.

We just had the room on a room only basis as the breakfast was quite expensive. The hotel is very central to the lovely city of Wells and so we had a pleasant walk around the cathedral and enjoyed a visit to a local cafe of which there are many. There was plenty of free parking which is always a bonus when you are staying so central as this was. The room was pleasant but had a four poster bed which we hadn't booked and weren't expecting which was fine for me but as my wife is quite short, she had to take a running jump to get on it as it was so high. Bed was comfortable but not the most comfortable I've ever stayed in.

Room was adjacent to a main road where trucks, busses and cars travel down so it was noisy. People carrying on after the pubs closed down. Fortunately it quieted down around 11pm. Other than the noise, the room was fine, bed was comfortable and it was conveniently located to a very walkable town.

The Swan Inn is in an ideal location to all notable amenities within the City of Wells. I found that there were plenty of car parking spaces at the hotel. The rooms within the establishment I feel are dated, windows not opening or closing properly, extractor fan in the bathroom not working, and dated furnishings. However, do not let these minor issues put you off from staying. The staff are excellent, and very attentive, the room’s even thou are dated are comfortable, with great bedding. As stated the location is fabulous. The breakfast here is good quality and there is plenty of choice. I would recommend this hotel, and I will be staying again in the future. Thanks.

General impression was good. Room was clean, Twin beds were narrow for adults. Happy to not change towels and sheets for a 3 night stay but clean cups, top-up of milk etc would be appreciated and emptying of bins. We discovered we could get this by leaving the green label on the door but it was not obvious that this could be achieved from information provided. Dinner in the restaurant was OK but plates much too large for us to enjoy. Breakfast was excellent.

Difficult to park nearby and no space at the hotel. If mobility is a problem this may not be the hotel for you. Breakfast was excellent, and breakfast staff, bar staff very efficient and friendly. No pillow options and staying in the courtyard meant we heard visitors returning late and lingering outside to chat. Great location though and just steps away from the Cathedral. Very nice private terrace for guests overlooking Cathedral Green.

We had an okay stare at the Swan Hotel. The bedroom was a good size. The bathroom could have done with some design changes e.g. don't use a waterfall showerhead when the ceiling is too low for it, Never ever put a shelf directly above a basin as it makes the basin almost impossible to use, Don't put a ceiling light with a glass shade when the ceiling it too low for it (I don't mind the low ceilings as it is an old property). These are minor points but it just made our stay that little bit awkward as I'm 6'4". We made a dinner reservation at 5:30 and the only time available was 8:30pm. So we waited the 3 hours. Then at 8:30 were told there were no tables available so we had to sit in the lounge. So what was the 3 hour wait for? Also, I don't want to be eating food with dogs, especially when they're being fed scraps on the floor. As I always say, dogs do not belong in hotels, but I'm fighting a loosing battle on that score it seems. On the positive side, breakfast (in the restaurant this time) was excellent (apart from the undercooked bacon - a common issue these days).

A lovely hotel, we had a nice welcome on arrival. Able to park although as advised the car park is small and quite tight to get in and out. We arrived early parked up and returned on time and our room was ready The room was lovely, large room with very comfortable bed, tea coffee including pods available. Bathroom was nice and had lovely shower gels body lotion etc Offered breakfast which we booked. Food was delicious, a great range of options Definitely recommend

Very pet friendly… bed, treats, blanket and snacks. Room was large, bathroom lovely. We did the first Pub Quiz and got 2nd so that was fun. Great location, opposite Wells Cathedral and a hop skip and jump to all the shops. It was Moat race day so extra activity in town. Love Wells ❤️

Convenient location. We put out the green card as we didn't think it was necessary to change sheets or towels, but it wasn't clear that this meant nothing would be carried out, no replenishment of tea, milk etc. no bins emptied, no beds made, which we expected still to be done, so a little disappointed. Wouldn't stay here again.
