Top neighborhoods in Dijon

Dijon Centre Ville
Dijon's Centre Ville turns everyday sightseeing into a medieval treasure hunt. Wander car-free cobblestone streets to discover the magnificent Ducal Palace with its colorful tiled roof and Notre-Dame's Gothic spires reaching skyward. Half-timbered houses lead you to elegant arcades at Place de la Libération and the bustling covered market halls packed with mouthwatering Burgundian specialties. Traditional bistros serve up coq au vin while wine bars showcase the region's famous vintages. The neighborhood's honey-colored limestone buildings and ancient paved lanes are best explored on foot, with tram lines connecting to outer districts when your legs need a break.

Old Town Dijon
Old Town Dijon brings medieval France to life through its honey-colored limestone buildings and Gothic architecture. Cobblestone streets lead to the magnificent Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, Notre-Dame church with its famous owl sculpture, and charming half-timbered houses. You'll discover authentic Burgundian culture in traditional mustard shops, wine cellars, and local craft boutiques. The neighborhood thrives as a pedestrian zone where visitors can comfortably explore historic sites without vehicle traffic. Traditional bistros serve regional specialties like coq au vin and escargot, while boutique hotels in converted medieval buildings offer accommodations with exposed beams and stone walls. Most attractions sit within a 10-minute walk of each other.

Centre Sud
Centre Sud unfolds like a storybook of medieval Dijon with cobblestone streets leading to magnificent treasures. The Gothic Notre-Dame church with its famous owl sculpture stands alongside the grand Palace of the Dukes. Half-timbered houses painted in warm ochre surround charming squares where locals gather. Visitors feel transported through time as church bells chime across the pedestrianized historic district. Traditional Burgundian bistros serve coq au vin paired with celebrated local wines in this walkable neighborhood. Boutique hotels occupy converted mansions while B&Bs offer rooms with period furnishings and personalized service. Most attractions sit within a 10-minute stroll, making Centre Sud perfect for travelers who appreciate history, architecture, and authentic French culture.

Faubourg North
Faubourg North feels like sneaking a peek at the secret side of Dijon where real French life unfolds. This residential northern suburb trades tourist crowds for quiet tree-lined streets and authentic neighborhood cafés. While there's not much sightseeing within the area itself, you're just a 30-minute stroll from Dijon's historic center with its magnificent Palace of the Dukes. Budget travelers will love the wallet-friendly accommodations that cost way less than downtown spots. Small family-run bistros serve up traditional Burgundian dishes without the tourist markup. Local buses connect you to central Dijon, though many visitors prefer the peaceful walk or cycling along connecting bike paths.

Faubourg Sud
Dijon's Faubourg Sud neighborhood offers attractions including La Vie Bourguignonne Museum.

Hotel Kyriad Dijon - Gare
"there was great chance for relax after long journey in swimming pool and spa. Breakfast were also great. But there could be more local vegetables."
Hôtel des Ducs
"We can not say enough good things about this hotel. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, the staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. The hotel is centrally located, beautiful, and just lovely. Would totally stay here again."
Nomad Dijon
"Very handy to station and tram line. Nice modern facilities and fresh clean room."
Best Western Dijon Centre Gare
"Totally recommended for a short stay. The crew was lovely through all the process and very friendly. The room was nice, modern and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is really close to the main Dijon train station. There is also a small supermarket just next door. The only ‘’meh’’ was the bathroom that needs a serious refresher."
Holiday Inn Dijon by IHG
"The bed was comfy but not level so I kept sliding to the edge. The sperate toilet did not have a basin, but there’s plenty room for one, so that was a thumbs down, as you can’t wash your hands before opening the door, as the shower and sink were next door. Bit like public toilets, which is why I try not use them. Didn’t get to use the pool again as too many people in there! As it’s quite small. Restaurant has nice food."
Kyriad DIJON EST - Mirande
"Breakfast was very good and although the restuarsnt was closed thst day (Sunday) we were pointed to othe places to eat."
Residhome Dijon Cité des vignes
"Staffs were friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to visit the city center of Dijon! Underground parking made it very easy traveling with a car. Thank you!"
Campanile Dijon Centre Clemenceau
"Reception were fantastic, breakfast was adequate, book parking before arriving"
Chapeau Rouge par William Frachot
"Lovely hotel, shower was amazing, location was perfect, unfortunately the Michelin star restaurant was closed for 2 weeks as it was holiday season so we couldn’t dine in the hotel, only criticism I have is that it would of been nice to use the sauna area but you couldn’t unless you booked a massage which I feel is disappointing if you are a guest at the hotel. All the staff were excellent but the English chap from Bedford 😊 was outstanding, he was so incredibly helpful and polite, he is definitely in the right job!"
