Bergen City Centre
Bergen's historic center captivates with its UNESCO-protected Bryggen wharf, where colorful wooden buildings house artisan workshops and museums. The bustling Fish Market serves up the freshest seafood while the funicular railway whisks you up Mount Fløyen for jaw-dropping fjord views. Medieval cobblestone streets wind between cultural landmarks and harbor views that'll make your camera work overtime. Getting around is a breeze on foot with excellent walkability throughout the compact center. Traditional seafood restaurants dominate the dining scene, while boutique hotels in converted warehouses offer maritime-themed accommodations with harbor views. Light rail and bus connections make exploring beyond the historic core simple and stress-free.

Sandviken
Sandviken's weathered wooden houses tell stories of Bergen's seafaring past through their muted yellows and creaking doorways. Narrow cobblestone streets wind between these 18th-century treasures, offering a peaceful escape from tourist crowds. Stoltzekleiven trail rewards hikers with stunning fjord views while the waterfront promenade delivers perfect mountain panoramas. The neighborhood keeps things delightfully simple with just a few traditional Norwegian cafés serving hearty fish soup and open-faced sandwiches. Charming boutique B&Bs in converted historic homes provide the perfect base for exploring, though you'll want sturdy shoes for those uneven cobblestone streets.

Nygård
Nygård strikes the perfect balance of local living with tourist-friendly access. Bergen Art Museum and Grieg Hall provide cultural fixes without the downtown crowds. University buildings bring youthful energy to the tree-lined streets, while small parks offer peaceful retreats. The neighborhood's authentic Norwegian character shines through its wooden houses and student-friendly cafés. Getting around couldn't be easier with the light rail connecting you to Bergen's center in minutes. Budget-conscious travelers will appreciate the student-oriented pricing at local eateries serving Norwegian comfort food. The hills might challenge your calves, but the quiet residential vibe makes for a refreshingly non-touristy home base.

Sentrum
Sentrum captures Bergen's soul with colorful medieval buildings along the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf. Wander cobblestone streets past the bustling fish market where vendors sell fresh Arctic seafood. The neighborhood's cultural heart beats strong in museums and galleries, while Bergen Cathedral and Grieg Hall offer glimpses into Norwegian heritage. Getting around is a breeze with three metro stations and excellent walkability. Most attractions sit within a 10-minute stroll from each other. Harbor-view restaurants serve traditional Norwegian cuisine, while boutique hotels in converted historic buildings provide character-filled places to rest after exploring this waterfront gem.
Bergenhus
Brimming with history, this urbanized area boasts attractions like Bergenhus Fortress, Haakon's Hall, Rosenkrantz Tower, and Bergen Cathedral. Wander through neighborhoods like Sandviken and Bryggen, and explore the University of Bergen.

Learn more about Bergen
Between seven mountains and deep fjords, Bergen's wooden houses create a colorful patchwork best viewed from Mount Fløyen via the Fløibanen funicular. The UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf reveals the city's Hanseatic history with leaning timber buildings housing artisan workshops and cafes. At the Fish Market, vendors offer fresh seafood and local banter. Torgalmenningen Square serves as the city's living room, while museums like the Hanseatic Museum showcase merchant life. The unpredictable weather adds character - locals joke you can experience all four seasons in a single afternoon. For a taste of Norwegian culture, catch a performance at Grieg Hall before exploring the thriving indie music scene that has launched many national artists.

Scandic Byparken
"Very good stay, bus stop for the airport bus less than 1 minute from the hotel, close to everything worth seeing."
Clarion Hotel Admiral
"Beautiful location on the water, good dining room but very limited dinner menu, very busy breakfast with too many options. Great place to stay in Bergen."
Scandic Torget Bergen
"We had a good one night stay at the Scandic Torget hotel. Small, clean, quiet room. AC didn’t work, but the front desk sent up a fan that made sleeping a lot more comfortable. The staff was professional and courteous. Hotel is centrally located, within easy walking distance of all Bergen attractions."
Magic Kloverhuset Harbour Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals
"No complaints except that our room was on the 8th floor and we could only take the elevator to the 6th floor, which made it a bit challenging to carry our luggage up to our room. Otherwise, no complaints."
Hotel Norge by Scandic
"Great location and nice rooms."
Scandic Neptun
"The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really good and staff was helpful"
Scandic Bergen City
"The dinner buffet was OK - but the breakfast was really excellent! The staff was nice and the room was very clean!"
Thon Hotel Orion
"Nice hotel overall. We booked it because of the central location and it didn’t disappoint. Breakfast was excellent, lots of options and very fresh. The hotel does not have parking and there is no street parking for visitors in central Bergen, but there are couple of fairly expensive parking lots around. Also, there are very limited charging stations in central Bergen (we had to drive 15 min to get our car charged) and the staff wasn’t very helpful overall with the questions."
Comfort Hotel Bergen
"Clean and quiet room. Pleasant staff. Few minutes walk to centre."
