Within the budget. We walk to the train station to hop in the bus ($3 each) to go to the entrance site of the Abbey, then hop in a free shuttle bus to go to the Abbey or you can walk from here.
We chose this hotel largely because of the great price and close proximity to Le Mont St Michel, but we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the accomadations were! I would definitely recommend. Our room ended up being more of a suite than just a standard hotel room, and we could see the island as soon as we walked out our door. Staff was very helpful and spoke English. What a special place in a unique setting close to Mont St. Michel! You will be pleasantly surprised upon entering La Petit Moulin Rouge - the warm hospitality of the owner, the coziness of the room and the delicious breakfast made us feel extra special.
Excellent wifi. Free parking just across the street. Exceptionally clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was delicious. Very few restaurants nearby but there is a Carrefour not too far away (by car) and a farmer's market just out front (on Tuesday mornings). Overall, an excellent hotel.

Nice, clean, comfortable room, good check-in experience. The direct access to the ramparts was a big bonus. The only negative was a misleading email from the hotel regarding advance notice of arrival time which caused unnecessary stress.
We had dinner and breakfast on property. Dinner was excellent. The room and bathroom were a good size for us. We were traveling from Paris to Mont St Michel and this was a great location. Staff were great.
The setting and location of this property is hard to beat. If you walk out the backdoor, you find a path that leads you to Mont St Michel. If you walk out the front door, you can enjoy a garden space with tables and chairs to relax. We would stay here again!
This is one of the few places to stay on Mont Saint-Michel. We decided to splurge because we wanted to experience the island after the crowds were gone. The room was very up-to-date and well thought out. We had a view of the bay and kept the window open all night to stay cool. No cooling otherwise. Also up lots of spiral stairs. We were allowed to leave our backpacks before check in and after check out so we could walk unhindered. Comfy bed, lots of pillows, mini fridge, we didn't try TV. ...
This is a wonderful castle that I highly recommend, 1000%! The attentions of its manager and receptionist, the marvelous room, the breakfast (note: it's not included in the price - Hotels.com provides misleading information). Everything there is elegant and cozy. It was a marvelous experience!
Fantastic hotel neat Mt St Michel. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. Food was great, including kids meal that was not the standard burger and chicken nuggets most places serve. We stayed in the family room which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The best beds we slept in all vacation. The hotel is also very close (<2 min walk) to this beautiful path/hike that takes you to the beach. Would highly, highly recommend to any family.
