Irton Hall
10/10 Excellent
"We booked the hotel in the Monday as we were going to climb Scafell on the Tuesday and it was ideal place. We found the cottage to be very comfortable and had all the amenities required. Definitely would recommend people to stay there."
Manor House Hotel Cockermouth

"Very pleasant stay. Hosts are very friendly & all staff helpful. Room was clean. Parking easy. Breakfasts were excellent."
Mary Mount Hotel
8/10 Good
"Beautiful view from the bedroom at the front of the hotel, and the location is gorgeous. The actual hotel would do with a bit of modernising- it’s not “old” as such, just showing some signs of wear in places- a lick of paint and a new carpet in the dining area would go a long way. However, it does still look nice. The shower is not powerful and the toilet flushes for a really long time for the pump to refill. In room toiletries are small and basic. The cleaning is not great- main areas are fine, but cobwebs on the lamp in the dining area are not good. But……. This hotel more than makes up for this in location, staff and food. The staff are truly lovely-friendly warm and helpful - but not false with it. The steak pie, the chips, the sandwiches and the lamp rump are all excellent. Plenty of variety and breakfast and quality was good. The walk around Derwent water was gorgeous and this hotel is close to Keswick- via foot bus or car. We much preferred the quiet of the hotel to Keswick which was very busy."

"Upon Arrival we were given a friendly greeting by The Barman and also a local gentleman who was seated at the bar. The barman checked us in & provided us with the room key 🗝️. Gave us Breakfast Details Times etc. We stayed for 3 Nights Upon arrival the room was beautiful prepared for our arrival. We stayed in Room 2 Triple Room for three people. The room was nicely laid out and a great size accommodation for 3 people. The next morning our room was beautiful cleaned Towels restocked. Unfortunately they did not replace the cups we had used the Night/Morning. That Afternoon I rang through as we were meeting up with some friends who lived in the area and decided to dine at the Venue. Booking for 9 of us was no problem even had our friends little dog Coco with us, so they seated us on 2 tables in the pool area which was suitable for our visit to the restaurant. We had a lovely meal and some light refreshments. Food was nice, service was very friendly. Had a Nice Breakfast on Day 2. Once we were ready we went out for the day and did not return until evening time. Upon returning to the room he had not been cleaned, dirty Towels were on the bathroom floor, still no fresh cup. Which was disappointing which reflects on the score given for the stay. Not really ideal. Lucky enough there was some extra towels in the chest drawers. We were short of one large towel but made do with the extra towel (small). Location is beautiful and would stay again and would recommend."
