Dryburgh Abbey Hotel
6/10 Okay
"A fantastic location and great staff, unfortunately the property needs an overhaul, tired and under maintained rooms and bathrooms made it an uncomfortable stay.
The property felt like it just fell in from the 1960’s, including the internet, I spent 2 nights there for business, however, I couldn’t hence hold video conference calls as the WiFi was at best non-existent…!"
"Good location to use as a base for one or two nights stay. Staff at breakfast and room cleaning were friendly and helpful. Breakfast food was the usual mix of traditional cooked fare with cereal, yoghurt, juices etc. The remote Check in was a little strange but caused no problems.
The twin bedroom was small but adequate as was the bathroom. The shower worked well.
The house has a large downstairs lounge with TV and views of the seafront which allows guests the option of relaxing outside their rooms.
Car parking is the large Free public car park opposite the guest house. Free to stay up to 48 hours.
One big negative however was the two single beds in the room. Two extremely uncomfortable nights sleep in beds that were way past their lifespan and definitely need replacing!"
"Lovely stay. Our room had previously been the old public bar, so was huge! Decor was a little tired and could do with a refresh (especially the bathroom - such a wasted opportunity not to put a bigger bath in there)!
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious - such a treat to have kippers, being on a ban at home for them!
Would recommend and definitely stay again!"
"Beautiful property. Upon retrospect, we probably would have enjoyed booking one of the higher priced room to get the full experience rather than the standard room up on the attic floor."
"We stayed on floor 2 in a classic double room - quite dated, the toilet made the loudest most horrendous noise when flushed for 20 seconds, the bath was greasy with hair in it and the walls are paper thin!
I have emailed management and told the reception of these issues along with being kept up until 3am with noises from every single direction, neighbors toilets also made that noise and god the headboard banged and shook with whatever next door were doing all night.
I was offered 30% off the next stay, but I would not stay again - save your money and go elsewhere as you will not get a good nights sleep - not value at all for £137 a night, was like a loud hostel"
"We’ve stayed at Roxburghe many times in the past but it’s not the same. Since sold to the schloss and Hyatt group it has lost its charm. We will not go back and we will cherish our memories of its past charm."
