Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springfield Enfield
"Overall a reasonably priced hotel with free breakfast. BUT... some basic issues with the ROOM which are BLATANT OVERSIGHTS in THE DESIGN: 1) The lighting overall in the room was totally insufficient. This was especially in the first 10 feet after you enter- NOTHING to turn on, especially overhead where the closet is jammed to the front door and you can't see anything. A total SAFETY HAZARD. The only other room lights were on the wall by the sides of the king bed, and a plug-in standing light in the far left corner.' 2. The "DOOR" to the BATHROOM was suspended and swung freely in and out, you had to slide it to the left to enter. VERY UNSTABLE, and a 4-5 inch OPEN GAP between the door bottom and the bathroom floor. So much for privacy. Even worse, in the middle of the night, MY BARE FOOT GOT STUCK IN THIS GAP and I almost went crashing to the floor. ANOTHER total SAFETY HAZARD and ridiculous design. Who approved the architectural plans (or let CT building codes slide) for this monstrous "DOOR". My partner and I left it open the whole time to avoid getting killed by this thing. Last but much less critical- the metal beaded pulls for both layers of curtains were very loose and cumbersome to get any upward or downward movement. Not great when you need to go to sleep and the room lighting was so disastrous in dark hours. The hotel was long overdue for a fresh upgrade of wallpaper and rugs. It was quiet (we were there on two weekdays) and the breakfast was edible."
The Goodwin Hotel
"Cleanliness was good, except not sure why but two nights in a row, they only made up one of the beds and left the other one completely undone. I had a two queen bed room, very spacious. I called the front desk to let them know, they apologized, but the next night the same thing happened and it was the other bed. I let the front desk know again, and I even asked if this is a Goodwin "troll" or something! A friend had this happen to her as well in the past when she stayed there. They assured me it is not, so it is very confusing."
