Learn more about Hill City
Climb aboard the 1880 Train for a journey through pine-covered hills that will make your camera finger twitch uncontrollably. Mount Rushmore's presidential faces gaze down just a short drive away, while the in-progress Crazy Horse Memorial offers a fascinating counterpoint. Black Elk Peak rewards hikers with views that explain why the Lakota considered these hills sacred. The compact downtown punches above its weight with surprisingly good wineries - Prairie Berry and Naked Winery pour generous samples for the indecisive. After a day exploring Black Hills National Forest, settle into a local steakhouse where bison and elk appear on menus without fanfare. Horse Thief Lake provides a perfect morning reflection of ponderosa pines for early risers.

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Rapid City, SD
"The hotel was an excellent choice. Everything was great, the rooms, service and location was great."
Baymont by Wyndham Keystone Near Mt. Rushmore
"Very nice hotel, clean and friendly staff"
Springcreek Inn
"I arrived late and I was worried about it, it wasn't a problem at all. Everything was great!"
Freedom Ridge Cabins
"A beautiful location, clean, easy to check in and communicate with owners. The view was astounding, although the cabin was closer to another house than anticipated. Primary complaint was just the overall quality of the cabin. It was cozy, but definitely cramped. No closet, bedroom with barely enough room to walk either side of the bed, and everything made of the same wood which made it a bit visually unappealing like a prefab. Still, shower and bathroom was good, they had dishes and utensils necessary, and a decent front porch to sit and see the mountains out front and cows that grazed by. Overall a pretty positive experience!"

"The cabin was very homey and I liked that it was peaceful in the forest."
Black Hills Trailside Park Resort
"Cabins are clean and cozy. Perfect for a couple or someone with one child. Easy walk to downtown Hill City. Some of the cabins are pet friendly. Nice walk on the Mickelson Trail."
