"Extremely friendly and helpful people. The food was excellent especially the steak and haggis. Bedroom was clean and tidy with comfy beds."

"The hotel is gradually being upgraded, new electric charging points and a new jacuzzi in the pool area were of note. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful The golf course was in reasonable condition and challenging in the windy conditions. Definitely an improvement over the last few years."

"My friend and I spent Wednesday night there, and received a VERY friendly welcome from a nice lady at the reception desk. Unfortunately, there are no lifts and the stairs are rather steep and spiral too, which as two elderly men with walking sticks we found quite hazardous with our luggage. When we got to our room, which was on the first floor, the light in the shower room and loo was broken, resulting in complete darkness with the door shut. I went back and spoke to the lady who had welcomed us and her surprise at the light not working seemed 100% genuine and she apologised profusely and said she would "get it fixed". Then she very quickly and efficiently got us moved to another room, also on the first floor, which was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and friendliness but disabled people need to be aware of the stairs."

"I enjoy my stay at the Golden Lion. The food is good and the staff are helpful. The room was clean but found the ensuite rather tight for space especially with the step to the shower."

"We stayed just the one night. The staff were very friendly and eager to provide good service. We enjoyed a pleasant drink on the lovely patio overlooking the river followed by a tasty meal in the bar. Breakfast was excellent . Our room was fairly basic with quite a small ensuite . The WiFi was good. We were pleased with our stay which represented good value."

"Breakfast was lush, a few bits had went unnoticed in the cleaning, Also I'm not happy I booked a double room and it was two single beds pushed together, As we were getting jiggy they came apart, not the worst place ever but not the best x"
