Hotels in Carves

This was our second visit, and it’s wonderful all around. The dinner was really delicious and the staff was terrific. We’ll be back.

This was one of the highlights of our stays in the area. The owners were so welcoming and warm, had so much knowledge about the area and we loved their dogs! The views from everywhere were spectacular, the garden was beautiful and every corner had another surprise- like the cave system from the town square market fare.

The staff was very welcoming and more than helpful. When we found ourselves in a bind because we needed fuel and the only service stations open were automated (which don't accept American credit cards), the hostess went with us and used her personal credit card to get us on the road again. (We paid her back with cash.)

Hotel de l’Abbaye offered almost everything we would need for a fully relaxing and wonderful stay. Once you are in the property you find that it sits on a hill overlooking the surrounding area, has lovely, well-kept and furnished grounds including a big swimming pool. The Maya room we had looked out over the town with beautiful views, a nice sitting room and a big very clean bathroom. This hotel was fantastic. The location was excellent with easy access to parking and the downtown hub. The staff was very friendly. The room was perfect. The bed was comfortable and everything was so clean. Would stay here again.

Great place tucked away with all the dordogne towns quickly accessible by car. Loved the property and pool. Paul and Marilou are exceptional mangers of the property.

Service was impeccable! We loved the elegant grounds, and dinner was delicious.

Just an amazing place! The rooms are perfectly decorated, beds heavenly, great pool. Dinner is better than anywhere around. Marlin, the owner, gave us good suggestions of the places in the area to visit. We loved Josephine Baker's castle, don't miss that.

The area is really close to the city center of Sarlat, but has a country feel. The room we stayed in was delightful with stone walls and decorated with antiques. The hosts gave us great suggestions for dinner the two nights we stayed there. The breakfast was filling.

A lovely overnight stay and wonderful gourmet food. En route to another town, I needed to spend the night in Gourdon. The hotel was very comfortable and welcoming after a long flight from NY and train ride from Paris. However, I arrived at the train station early in the evening and there were no taxis available at that time of day. The hotel is within walking distance of the station if you are fit (some uphill) and can roll your luggage rather than carry. I recommend that you contact the hotel...

Shower was difficult to use. Restaurant offered little choice & forced us order expensive, complicated fixed menus. A few more “plats” would be more appropriate.

Chateau was beautifully decorated. Small elevator to bring our bags to first floor. Owner helped carry bags from entrance stairs to elevator. Robert and his wife were gracious and helpful.

The buffet breakfast was lovely. The staff were kind and helpful.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. The pool area, the lobby and bar are nice places to relax after a day in town. The daily breakfast is substantial, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
