"Lovely place to stay. Only downside was the breakfast. We both had eggs benedict. Poached eggs were overcooked and the muffins were dry and were not good quality."
"Overall on the surface of it the room appeared quite clean, but dust on window ledges and in the louvres of the air conditioning grills was unacceptable. Parking was easy and not expensive at £7.50 per 24hr period. Comfortable bed. Very convenient for The Cathedral."
"The Hotel and the bar +restaurant are all amazing. My room was clean comfortable and as I was there on a hot week they'd put a Dyson blade in my room and left it running plus kept the curtains closed.
The restaurant was kept cool too
The bed was just right firm but with a pillowy top and the . The towels were well sized and soft. No
The decor even down to the accessories complemeted the beautiful building. The room and bathroom were spacious and spotless. Rooms were cleaned daily.
The staff are amazing throughout, helpful, friendly
The breakfast was delicious with a great options ; cereals, granolos , droed and fresh fruit, yoghurt toast and jams etc.
The hot food was cooked to order by filling in a form the night before . I'd recommend the eggs Benedict with lovely streaky bacon .
The only minor niggles are that the water in shower was a bit erratiic and the instant coffee was Nescafé . Coffee bags and mugs would make it even better. The Nespresso was quite fun .
I'd highly recommend The Chapter House"
"Really enjoyed our stay here. Delightful quaint hotel with lovely ancient rooms full of character. Owners were very helpful and let us pick up the room keys early since we were attending a local festival. However, we had to ring them to confirm this since no comms whatsoever through the hotel.Com messaging service despite multiple attempts.. Also Hotel.Com stated that a full English breakfast was included in the rate but only continental breakfast was offered by the hotel. This is unacceptable and needs sorting out soonest by Hotel.Com so guests are not misled. However, overall we enjoyed our night at the thatched cottage inn and would stay again."
"We visited this hotel as a party of eight for a Golden Wedding anniversary celebration. The reception staff there went well above and beyond what could reasonably be expected. They accommodated all our requests happily and efficiently and contributed significantly to our very pleasurable stay. The little 'perks' the hotel offers it's guests also contribute to the very positive view we have of the establishment."
"I liked everything about this hotel. The room was spacious and as well as having loads of cupboard and drawer space it had two armchairs (a rarity these days, in my experience), hair dryer, ironing board and iron. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size with plenty of shelf space for spreading out toiletries, good lighting for shaving, and (also a rarity) simple basin taps that did not require lengthy experimentation to work out how to get hot water. The shower was also very satisfactory. I liked the fact that the room was thoroughly serviced during the day including replenishing the biscuits :)
On my first morning I had the continental breakfast including croissants that were most acceptable, and I appreciated the fact that the cold cabinet offered various non-dairy milk options. On the second morning I tried the cooked breakfast and found that excellent.
The swimming pool is a reasonable size, perfectly good for putting in a few lengths for exercise.
The hotel's decor might be too plain for some people's taste but the establishment is well-maintained and managed, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking, much of it under shade trees (thankfully, because the weather was sunny and hot). I was attending the fringe festival in the town and delighted to find that the walk into the centre was only 15 minutes on a quiet road so I was spared the hassle of finding parking.
All in all a great experience. I'll be back."
