The Colonels is so relaxing and hospitable. Colonel Mark is such a great host, great attention to detail and brings an instant familiarity to your stay. The historical aspect of the house and grounds provides great tranquility to the whole experience.
The Gillen House is a perfect destination if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful getaway that is close to Athens and not too far away from Atlanta. The hosts, Edward and Cynzia, were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The food at breakfast was excellent. Especially the steaks and sides that we had for dinner on our arrival evening. The room was spotless and perfect. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
We’re very pleased with our stay. The hotel was clean, well kept, and styled nicely. Our family of 4 never felt tight on space. The room had lots of seating and space to place our things without being in anyone else’s way. We stayed only one night. Our stay was due to an event at the Classic Center. The walk to our event and to local restaurants was easy. We didn’t have to get in a car until we left to go home. I believe the hotel was at capacity during our stay, but you wouldn’t know that...
Other than maxed out parking, the staff were very helpful in offering alternative parking options. Very courteous staff. Always attentive. Very clean and comfortable amenities. Would 1000% recommend to stay here
Really cool interior--bright and airy. Very convenient to UGA. Really comfortable, clean room.
My only complaint was the less than welcoming attitude at check-in--where the staff person presented as if she were doing me a favor--and the distraction of the staffer at check-out who was busy with a personal phone call.
