"This was an enjoyable stay in a beautiful hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, lovely and clean with a very large room. If I had any criticism, it would be a very minor one, where the towel holder and toilet roll holder was loose. But that’s taking nothing away from a lovely place to stay."

"Check in takes a ridiculously long time (over 25mins for 3 people), ask for ID unnecessarily, room was not cleaned to a decent standard, stagnant water left in kettle and coffee machine and someone’s clothes left in wardrobe. Bathroom was covered in paint and grout from some recent work and everything looked a bodge job from shower to toilet flush and taps. Only redeeming feature was size of room and bed was comfortable. Be aware bar opposite plays very loud music from early evening through to early hours."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It’s a lovely historic building and the current owners have done a great job on the decor. The hosts and their staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful and the food was very good. We really couldn’t fault anything and if we’re travelling this way again we would definitely book again."

"Stayed here on a number of occasions. Always find the mattress too hard and the pillows too soft and the road noise a little distracting. Amenities are good, overall general aesthetics are good and clean but notice some areas need more focus on cleaning and maintenance throughout the property. Food, drink and staff assistance are excellent."

"Disappointing one night stop over. Its more of a business traveller, conference & private events venue than a country house hotel. Suite 15 is directly opposite the kitchen extractor fan which is on from before 5.00am until the kitchen closes at night & can easily be heard in the room. The room only had one bedside table & lamp, the glazed entrance is fitted with opaque glass & is the only window so there is no view. If you could see out you would be looking at the car park. The tv is old & has no internet connectivity. Drinks making facility was from the 1980's. The bathroom by contrast was excellent. You would never know all this from their property description & photographs. We asked to move but the only room available apparently, 28 I think, was a small double which was very dull & in need of updating. The restaurant is a fake pub where you are expected to order at the bar. Breakfast was good but the burger the night before was poor quality. There are no comfortable sitting rooms just function rooms. If you want to host an event here then maybe it works. If youre travelling for leisure I'd find somewhere else."
