If you're seeking the quintessetial English county location, this is it. The scenery is beautiful. There is a wonderful pub and restaurant, where the food is actually exceptional. Our room was fantastic, clean and authentically English. Well-appointed with a comfortable 4-poster bed. The Bull Head Inn seems like a bit of a fairy tale, but is not at all contrived. Truly authentic English charm.
Upon arriving we were greeted with lovely friendly service. Our rooms were comfortable and we appreciated all the amenities provided. Parking was also easy. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Can highly recommend.
We stayed at The Cavendish Hotel on the Chatsworth Estate last October and loved the area and Chatsworth itself. The Devonshire Arms in Pilsey is also lovely, but more casual. We had a room in the farmhouse with a four poster bed and it was very comfortable. Note it sems every village in Derbyshire has a pub/inn called the Devonshire Arms so you DO need to specify Pilsey to get the correct one. The Moon has great character, a fascinating history (I'm distantly related to many of the past owners from the 1800s), excellent amenities, and excellent breakfasts. I enjoyed my dinners there, too. Josh and Emma from the staff were both very friendly and helpful to me. The parking is easy, the inn centrally located in the heart of the village, and lots of local characters stop by for a pint and folks from further afield for a meal.
